Today I had a privilege to do a photo session at Rochester PREP Charter School. This session was not unlike any other school photos that I have done in the past. Basically I was asked to perform service in a documentary type approach, taking photos of students and teachers as they interact with each other.
It was fairly straight forward yet was challenging as my job was not to disturb the class and with my bulky cameras and lenses it is a hard task to stay hidden. Nevertheless I could not be more then happy with the results I obtained. Big thanks goes out to all the teachers that assisted me in making this possible.
I really love to shoot in photo journalistic style as you capture in this way the real people, their real emotions and the atmosphere that’s sometimes not always possible with poses. And that is how I always shoot weddings all the way through except for the time when we go out in the park and some formals. So I was very excited to use the same technics in this school session.
It was so much fun and interesting for me to be there. I believe I blended in nicely with school staff and everything went according to the plan. I also enjoyed how teachers were interacting with students and how fun and learning the whole place was.
Thanks also goes to Julie the Associate Director for allowing me the opportunity to be of service to such a great school.
